Custom Synthesis

Custom synthesis is a process in which chemical compounds are synthesized from a set of starting materials. This process can involve various techniques, such as organic, inorganic, or polymer.

Custom synthesis is used in producing pharmaceuticals, agrochemicals, flavors and fragrances, specialty chemicals, and for research purposes. It is a process of creating a specific chemical compound or mixture of compounds for a particular application or purpose.

ARSI Canada offers a range of custom syntheses of low-volume, high-value small molecules for biotechnology and pharmaceutical applications. We have 50 years of combined experience in custom research and customs synthesis. We offer:

  • We synthesize customized molecules based on request.
  • We have 3 Fume hoods and eight benches dedicated to custom synthesis projects.
  • Few mg to small Kg scales.
  • Known and unknown Reference Standards & Impurity standards synthesis
  • Specialty Reagents for Biotechnology, Nitrosamines, peptides, radiopharmaceuticals etc.
  • Full analytical results and CoA

Contract Research

Pharmaceutical contract research is a research and development service provided by contract research organizations (CROs) to the pharmaceutical, biotechnology, and medical device industries.

It typically involves pre-clinical and clinical research services such as clinical trial design and management, data management and analysis, API discovery, development, and manufacturing.

Our Contract Research includes the following:

  • Synthetic feasibility
  • Scale-up
  • Process development
  • Lead optimization
  • Structure-activity optimization
  • Route development

Organic & Medicinal Chemistry Services

Chemistry services at ARSI Canada involve complex chemical technology to support the developing and manufacturing of API, biologics, medical devices, and other products. These include various activities such as chemical synthesis, chemical analysis, and API development.

Catalogue Compounds:

ARSI Canada offers a vast range of impurities and pharmaceutical reference standards. We specialize in Nitrosamines, Peptides, Radioactive compounds, and Diagnostic impurities. In addition, we offer an extensive range of chemical compounds, including reference materials, process impurities, degradants & metabolites of APIs, natural products, diagnostic imaging reagents, and chemical building blocks.

Pharmaceutical reference standard:

A pharmaceutical reference standard is a pure, well-characterized, and homogenous material used as a reference in analytical measurements during pharmaceutical development and manufacturing. The reference standard is used to verify a test procedure's accuracy and precision and identify unknown substances in a sample. Reference standards are essential for quality control, assurance, and regulatory compliance.

Impurities:

Pharmaceutical impurities are chemical compounds present in drug substances & products because of either the production process or the degradation of the drug substance. They may be present in trace amounts or more significant amounts depending on the type of impurity and the production process. Impurities may be classified as organic, inorganic, or residual solvents. These impurities can significantly impact the drug product's safety, efficacy, and quality.

Metabolites:

Metabolites are compounds produced because of the metabolism of a particular substance. This could be a drug, dietary supplement, or other substance. Metabolites may contain active ingredients that can influence the body and be beneficial or harmful. Those may also measure a drug’s effectiveness or monitor drug toxicity.

Labelled Compounds:

Labelled compounds are synthesized in the laboratory and labelled with specific chemical or physical characteristics. These compounds are used as reference standards in drug testing and research. Those can also identify and characterize drug product impurities and monitor drug purity and consistency.

Nitrosamines:

Nitrosamines are a group of chemical compounds known to be carcinogenic (cancer-causing). They are primarily present in processed meats, other foods, and personal care products. These compounds can form when nitrite preservatives are present in food or when nitrates are exposed to high temperatures.

Radioactive Impurities:

Radioactive Impurities are materials that contain radioactive isotopes and emit ionizing radiation. These materials may occur naturally, but they can also be created artificially. Radiation from radioactivity can damage surrounding tissues and organs, leading to various health risks.

Structure Elucidation

Structure elucidation is the process of determining the chemical structure of a compound. For organic compounds, it will often involve nuclear magnetic resonance spectroscopy (NMR spectroscopy). Other characterization techniques include mass spectrometry, infrared spectroscopy and X-ray crystallography. Elucidation of molecular structure is necessary to identify or confirm the structural identity of a chemical compound during chemical research or product development. However, unknown substances or impurities can be challenging to locate.

Molecular structure elucidation and characterization determine the exact arrangement of atoms in a molecule or compound. This is done using techniques such as spectroscopy, chromatography, and crystallography. The results of this process allow scientists to better understand a compound's physical and chemical properties. This information can then be used to develop drugs, materials, and other products.

Structure elucidation for organic compounds is necessary to identify impurities or confirm the structures of new chemical entities and perform characterization of chemical compositions during chemical research or product development.

The structure elucidation process involves the following analytical techniques: HPLC/MS/MS and NMR spectroscopy. Mass spectrometry, FTIR spectroscopy.
